Yellowstone's Old Faithful Erupts!
Iconic Geyser Spouts Water in Spectacular Display
At approximately 10:00 AM MST on July 23rd, Old Faithful, one of the most iconic landmarks in Yellowstone National Park and arguably the world's most famous geyser, erupted in a spectacular display of nature's power.
A Geological Wonder
Old Faithful is a cone geyser, meaning it erupts from a cone-shaped mound of mineral deposits. The geyser's eruptions are caused by the interaction of hot water and steam beneath the Earth's surface. As pressure builds, the water and steam are forced up through the geyser's vent, creating the dramatic spouts of water that have captivated visitors for centuries.
