Netflix fired Kevin Spacey from the political drama House of Cards in November 2017 after multiple sexual assault allegations surfaced against the actor.
Production Shut Down and Season 6 Revamped
Production on the sixth season of House of Cards was halted in October 2017 following the allegations against Spacey. The season was eventually released in November 2018 with the character of Frank Underwood, played by Spacey, killed off.
Spacey Ordered to Pay $30 Million
In July 2023, the Los Angeles Superior Court ordered Spacey to pay $30 million to MRC, the production company behind House of Cards, for breach of contract.
House of Cards Finale Airs Without Spacey
The final season of House of Cards aired in November 2018 with Robin Wright taking over as the lead character, Claire Underwood. The season concluded with the death of Frank Underwood and the rise of Claire to the presidency.
