MLB Draft Grades: Team-by-Team
From Early Reaches to Late-Round Steals
The 2023 MLB Draft has come and gone, and CBS Sports has tracked every selection by every team in every round. With the draft now in the books, it's time to hand out grades for each team.
American League East
Baltimore Orioles: A
The Orioles made a splash with their first pick, selecting high school shortstop Jackson Holliday. Holliday is considered one of the best prospects in the draft and has the potential to be a star. Baltimore also added some depth to its farm system with some solid picks in the later rounds.
Boston Red Sox: B+
The Red Sox had a solid draft, adding some much-needed pitching depth to their system. They also made a smart pick in the second round, selecting shortstop Mikey Romero, who is considered one of the best defensive shortstops in the draft.
New York Yankees: B
The Yankees made some solid picks in the early rounds, but they didn't add much depth to their farm system. They did, however, get some good value in the later rounds, including outfielder Jake Jelmini, who is considered one of the best pure hitters in the draft.
Tampa Bay Rays: A+
The Rays had a great draft, adding some much-needed pitching depth to their system. They also made some smart picks in the later rounds, including outfielder Curtis Mead, who is considered one of the best athletes in the draft.
Toronto Blue Jays: B
The Blue Jays had a solid draft, but they didn't add much depth to their farm system. They did, however, get some good value in the later rounds, including outfielder Brandon Barriera, who is considered one of the best hitters in the draft.
