Emergency Acrylic Nails Repair

Nail Repair: A Comprehensive Guide

Fixing Broken Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails, also known as fake nails, can break, but they can be repaired. Here are the steps to fix a broken acrylic nail:

Step 1: Determine the Severity of the Break

Assess the break to determine if the nail plate needs to be removed and the nail bed repaired, or if it can be simply glued back together.

Step 2: Remove the Broken Nail Plate (if necessary)

If the break extends to the nail bed, it may be necessary to remove the nail plate. Perform a digital block to numb the area and gently lift the nail without removing it to inspect the nail bed for lacerations.

Step 3: Repair the Nail Bed Laceration (if necessary)

If a laceration is present on the nail bed, it should be repaired with stitches.

Step 4: Glue the Broken Nail Back Together

If the nail plate does not need to be removed, use nail glue to adhere the broken pieces together. Press the pieces firmly for 30-60 seconds until the glue sets.

Additional Tips

Here are some additional tips for repairing a broken acrylic nail:

  • Use a fine-grit nail file to smooth the edges of the broken pieces before gluing them together.
  • Apply a top coat to seal the repair and protect the nail from further damage.
